主旨报告 Growing challenges in river engineering - What contribution can hybrid modeling make

Sven Wurms, born in 1977, studied Environmental Engineering at the University of Stuttgart. After working as scientific assistant at the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering, University of Stuttgart, from 2005 to 2009 with research emphases on sediment transport and flood protection measures, he received his PhD in 2010 (title of thesis: ‘Numerical modelling of sedimentation processes in retention reservoirs for the management of mass fluxes during extreme flood events’). Since 2009 scientific employee at the Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Institute, section River Engineering, since 2016 deputy head of this section. Fields of work are consultancy and expert opinion on waterway upgrading, river training and sediment management, numerical modelling of flow and sediment transport, research on the impact of climate change on waterways and navigation as well as field investigations and data analyses. From 2014 to 2016 lecturer at the University of Freiburg (title of lecture: ‘River morphology and numerical modelling’).
